Basic tasks essential for day-to-day functioning, such as bathing, dressing, grooming, eating, and getting in and out of a bed or chair.

| Assessment |
A process used by Nurse Managers to gather information about an individual to determine his or her functional needs and/or eligibility for services. Information collected may include health status, financial status, ability to perform activities of daily living, mental status, etc. |
| Assisted Living |
Residences that provide a "home with services" and that emphasize the tenants' privacy and choice. Apartments have private locking rooms and bathrooms. Personal care services are available on a 24-hour-a-day basis. |

Long-term or permanent illness (e.g., diabetes, arthritis) which often results in some type of disability and which may require a person to seek help with various activities. |

Our guest room is available for rental to family and friends for overnight stays. |
| Housekeeping/Laundry Services |
We frequently hear compliments on the cleanliness of our facility. The housekeeping Department works hard to keep the facility spotless. The laundry department wash and deliver personal clothing on a daily basis. The laundry staff marks each item of clothing with the resident's name and room number to minimize the chance of losing the article of clothing. They also notify the Social Workers when any clothing is in need of repair or replacement. |
| Licensure |
Official permission by a governmental entity, such as the state, to practice a particular profession or provide a particular service. Licensing ensures a minimum level or health and safety standards are met, which are intended to protect the public. Entities that must hold a license are defined in statute, and standards that must be met are usually outlined regardless of funding source (i.e., private etc.) |
| Long Term Care Insurance |
Any Insurance policy designed to provide coverage for not less than twelve (12) consecutive months for each covered person for functionally necessary or medically necessary diagnostic, preventive, therapeutic, rehabilitative, maintenance or personal care services provided in a setting other than an acute care unit of a hospital. |
| Long Term Care Services |
A wide range of assistance, services or devices provided over an extended period of time and designed to meet medical, personal and social needs in a variety of settings or locations to enable a person live as independently as possible. |
| Medicaid or Medical Assistance |
The state administered health care program for individuals with low to moderate income and resources that provides coverage of a wide range of medical services, including long term care services. |
| Medicare |
The national health care program for elderly (age 65 and older) and disabled individuals who are receiving Social Security benefits. The program provides coordinated coverage of a wide range of medical services, including hospital and physician care, but only limited coverage of long term health care services. |
| Nursing Home or Facility |
A facility that provides nursing care and related medical or other personal health services 24 hours a day and 7 days a week to individuals who require full-time care or supervision but do not need more intensive hospital-based care. |
| Nursing Services |
Hands-on medical care, health supervision, observation and monitoring provided by registered, licensed nurses as ordered by your physician. |
| Occupational Therapy |
Designed to help individuals improve their independence with activities of daily living through rehabilitation, exercise, and the use of assistive devices. May be covered in part by Medicare. |
| Social Services |
Social Services assist in meeting the psychosocial needs of the individual as well as facilitates the admission process. The social worker will also assist with insurance and financial issues and discharge planning. |
| Skilled Care |
Daily nursing and rehabilitative care that can be performed only by or under the supervision of skilled medical personnel. "Higher level' of care (such as injections, catheterizations, and dressing changes) provided by trained medical professionals, including nurses, doctors, and physical therapist. |
| Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) |
Facility that is certified by Medicare to provide 24-hour nursing care and rehabilitation services in addition to other medical services. |
| Special Care Unit |
A separate unit/program for individuals with Alzheimer's disease or other cognitive impairments. Such programs usually feature specially designed and secure environments, structured activity programs and greater staff-to-resident ratios. |
| Speech Therapy |
Designed to help restore speech through exercises. May be covered by Medicare. |
| Spiritual Services |
Chaplaincy services are offered as well as several denominations of religious services and bible studies to meet the spiritual needs of individuals. |
| Tenant Companion Services |
Arrangements can be made for a staff person to accompany tenants to clinic appointments or other outings. |
| Therapeutic Recreation Services |
Daily events and activities are arranged to meet the individual interests and needs of the client. |
| Transportation Services Arranged |
Special transportation programs are available for persons who cannot travel alone. Economical ride programs are available for those who cannot drive anymore. |
